MUSIC | SPOTIFY YEAR IN MUSIC 2015

As this "one day one post" advent calendar continues, here we are : 23 days left until 2016. And Spotify just knows how to already make me feel nostalgic. It's that time of the year. It's Spotify's year in music time of the year. And well, it comes with many surprises ! I know I got a bit emotional - not to say emo - around my birthday while far from my family in London. But damn, I had no idea I got THAT emotional ha According to Spotify, I'm 14 years old emo right now ! So here it is : my Spotify Year in Music !

Nous y voici, encore 23 jour avant la nouvelle année ! Et Spotify sait comment déjà me rendre nostalgique de 2015. Nous sommes déjà à la période du Spotify's year in music. Que de surprises ! Je sais que j'étais un peu à fleur de peau les semaines autour de mon premier anniversaire loin de ma famille à Londres mais je ne pensais pas que j'étais aussi à fleur de peau que ça ! Donc apparemment d'après Spotify, j'ai toujours 14 ans, je suis toujours emo. Je vous laisse découvrir mon Spotify's year in music !

So this year I listenned to 2 513 different tracks. Yes, I do find myself pretty amazeballs right now. Deal with it.

Donc cette année j'ai écouté 2 513 morceaux différents. Et je peux vous dire que je me sens plus pisser en sachant ça.

And apparently, I listenned to 1 202 different artists. That's a lot of band names to remember for a blind test...

Et apparemment, j'ai aussi écouté 1 202 artistes différents. Ça fait beaucoup de noms à retenir pour un blind-test...

But I guess I am well trained for a random blind test as I listenned to music on Spotify for 36 000 minutes. Damn, I spent 25 days straight streaming music. That's insane ! That's good insane though...

J'imagine que je suis bien entraînée pour un blind-test surprise étant donné que j'ai écouté de la musique sur Spotify pendant 36 000 minutes. Punaise, ça fait genre 25 jours non stop à streamer de la musique, c'est complètement fou !

And I guess my taste of music is way less eclectic than I though. Damn, I am a basic bitch.

Et j'imagine que mes goûts en musique sont moins éclectiques que je ne le pensais. Je suis tellement basique en fait.

So the first track I listenned to in 2015 was Zhu - Superfriends, which I wanted to talk to you about in this post. What's crazy is that I genuinely remember getting ready to go to work, hungover as fuck, listenning to this track trying not to fall asleep.

Donc la première chanson que j'ai écouté en 2015 c'était "Superfriends" de Zhu. C'est une chanson dont je voulais vous parler dans ce vieux post. Et c'est fou parce que je me revois en train de me préparer à aller au boulot, avec la gueule de bois, en écoutant cette chanson tout en essayant de rester éveillée.

Then, all winter long I listenned to my favourite artists : Enter Shikari (which means I was right to mention them here), Ellie Goulding and Kid Cudi. The funny thing is that Ellie Goulding and Kid Cudi were already my favs in winter 2014 and spring 2014 according to Spotify. I guess I really have a thing for them. And well, welcome Enter Shikari. I know this band since my teen years. But while in London, they became my favourite soundtrack. It is something in their lyrics and how they sound that really hits home. My year in London would have been SO MUCH different if I did not listenned to "The Last Garrison" or "Torn Appart" every single day.

Ensuite tout l'hiver, j'ai écouté mes artistes préférés: Enter Shikari (j'avais donc raison de les mentionner ici), Ellie Goulding et Kid Cudi. NB: Ellie Goulding et Kid Cudi étaient déjà mes artistes préférés sur Spotify en hiver 2014 et printemps 2014. Je crois que j'ai vraiment un truc avec eux. Et ensuite, j'aimerais souhaiter la bienvenue à Enter Shikari. Je connais ce groupe depuis mon adolescence. Mais quand j'étais à Londres, ils sont devenus ma bande originale préférée. Il y a quelques choses dans leurs paroles et leurs sonorités qui me touche particulièrement. Mon année à Londres aurait été complètement différente si je n'avais pas écouté "The Last Garrison" ou "Torn Appart" tous les jours.

Well, well, well.. I guess spring was the part of the year I went a bit too emotional. So yay, let's rejoice, I kept on listenning to Enter Shikari. It also matches the time when "Lean On" from Major Lazer came out, and I was trying to save money, so I put the song on repeat while walking for an hour to work everyday. But, wait, why is Tokio Hotel here ? I thought when I went private Spotify did not monitor these shameful songs I was listenning to ! Oh boy...

Bon, je pense que j'étais un peu trop émotive au printemps. D'abord, réjouissons-nous, j'ai continué d'écouter Enter Shikari. A cette époque, "Lean On" de Major Lazer venait de sortir et j'essayais d'économiser, donc j'écoutais cette chanson en boucle pendant mon heure de marche pour aller au travail tous les jours. Et attendez-, ce ne serait pas Tokio Hotel qui tenterait une percée là ? Et moi qui pensais que l'écoute privée sur Spotify n'enregistrait pas ces chansons de la honte...

Thank God in summer, Tokio Hotel is out of the picture... I was cheerful, thanks to my kickass internship and "Peace Is The Mission" from Major Lazer, but missing home a lot. That's when Avril Lavigne pops up. I'm an old Avril Lavigne fan. Like, I bought pink Converse when I was ten to look like her even though I looked more like a freaking clown. I love "Under My Skin" and "Let Go". She lost herself somewhere after that. But as I said here, I was really moved by her Lyme decease story so I kind of reconnected virtually with her last summer. Oh and hello Michael Jackson. I'm so proud he's here as never really understand how dead serious I am when I say I'm Michael Jackson's biggest fan.

Dieu merci, en été j'ai arrêté d'écouter Tokio Hotel. J'étais plutôt ambiancée par mon super stage et "Peace Is The Mission" de Major Lazer qui venait de sortir, mais mon chez moi me manquait. Et c'est là qu'Avril Lavigne entre en scène. J'étais une vraie fan d'Avril Lavigne quand j'étais ado. J'avais acheté des Converse rose pour lui ressembler, même si au final je ressemblais plus à un clown. J'adore "Under My Skin" et "Let Go" mais après elle s'est perdue. Mais comme je l'ai dit dans un ancien post, j'ai vraiment été touchée par son témoignage sur la maladie de Lyme et me suis reconnectée à elle en quelques sorte l'été dernier. Oh, et salut Michael Jackson ! Je suis fière qu'il soit présent dans ce Spotify's year in music parce que les gens ne comprennent jamais à quel point je suis sérieuse quand je dis que je suis fan de Michael Jackson.

Autumn and still streaming Major Lazer songs. Is that a subliminal marriage proposal to Diplo ? Maybe. Ellie Goulding is back and Purity Ring enters the top 3. I went to their concert in Paris in November. It was the best audio-visual experience of my life. The staging perfectly matched the universe of the band, the singer was pretty amazing and the accoustic in the room was really impressive. Best 20€ I spent this year.

On est en automne et j'écoute toujours Major Lazer. Est-ce une demande en mariage subliminale à Diplo ? Peut-être. Et c'est le retour d'Ellie Goulding et l'entrée de Purity Ring dans le top 3. Je suis allée à leur concert à Paris en novembre. C'était l'expérience audiovisuelle la plus belle de ma vie. La mise en scène collait parfaitement avec l'univers du groupe, la chanteuse était fabuleuse et l'acoustique de la salle était impressionnante. C'étaient les 20€ les mieux dépensé de l'année.

So, according to Spotify stats, the album I streamed more this year is Tinashe's "Aquarius". I have to admit that "2 On" is my walk-like-a-boss-ass-bitch song when I need confidence. And I also freaking love "Bet" and "Wildfire". I also wanted to introduce you to her back in 2014 but did not have much room left (hey I listen to a thousand artists ok). Purity Ring was my best discovery of the year. I'm so ashamed of Tokio Hotel I won't mention it (I can't see you, you don't exist). Daaaah I'm really glad "Indicud" is here as I really disrespected that album when it came out and fell in love with it a year after. I'm so sorry Kid Cudi. And finally, A Skylit Drive. I can blame Spotify on that one as it suggested me to listen to that album, and damn, it is bangers ! I told you a bit about it this year. Does that make me emo again ? I think so.

Donc d'après les statistiques de Spotify, l'album que j'ai le plus écouté cette année est "Aquarius" de Tinashe. Je dois reconnaître que "2 On" c'est la chanson qui me fait gagner de la confiance en moi à balle et marcher comme Tyra Banks dans la rue. J'aime aussi beaucoup "Bet" et "Wildfire". Je voulais aussi vous parler de Tinashe en 2014 mais il ne me restait plus beaucoup de place (eh, j'écoute des milliers d'artistes ok?). Purity Ring est ma meilleure découverte de l'année. J'ai tellement honte pour Tokio Hotel que je n'en parlerais pas. Daaaaah, je suis trop contente qu'"Indicud" soit dans mon top étant donnée le manque de respect que j'ai eu à son égard quand il est sorti. Mais j'en suis finalement devenue folle une année plus tard. Je suis désolée Kid Cudi. Et enfin, A Skylit Drive. C'est la faute de Spotify qui m'a suggéré d'écouter leur album et j'ai tout de suite accrocher tellement il est génial ! Je vous en ai déjà un peu parlé dans un ancien article. Est-ce que tout cela me rend à nouveau emo ? Oui, je pense.

Here is the top 5 of the artists I listenned to the most this year on Spotify. I'm still really happy that Kid Cudi and Ellie Goulding are still in the top, just like in 2014. I am more than thrilled about Enter Shikari, super excited about Major Lazer and really ashamed of the Tokio Hotel thing happening here. I am glad to say that I have seen live four of the artists here. I saw Ellie Goulding in Le Trianon in Paris two years ago, I attended Kid Cudi's too short show at Rock En Seine in Paris what it feels like a long time ago, when I was like 14 Tokio Hotel was my first concert ever and I twerked on stage in front of Diplo thanks to Walshy Fire at the Olympia during Major Lazer's performance. Get ready Enter Shikari, you're up next !

Voici le top 5 des artistes que j'ai le plus écouté cette année sur Spotify. Je suis toujours très contente de voir qu'Ellie Goulding et Kid Cudi font toujours partis du top, tout comme en 2014. Et je suis encore plus exaltée d'y voir Enter Shikari et Major Lazer mais j'ai vraiment la honte de Tokio Hotel. Et je suis fière de dire que j'ai vu quatre des cinq artistes présents ici en live. J'ai vu Ellie Goulding au Trianon à Paris il y a deux ans, je me suis rendu au concert trop court de Kid Cudi à Rock en Seine à Paris il y a une éternité (au moins), Tokio Hotel était mon tout premier concert quand j'avais 14 ans et j'ai twerké sur scène à l'Olympia au concert de Major Lazer parce que j'avais tapé dans l'oeil de Walshy Fire. Préparez-vous Enter Shirkari, vous êtes les suivants !

That is just cherry on the cake. I am so happy when I see that. And I am not talking about Calvin Harris. So, it's no breaking news that "Lean On" was my jam this year. But damn (excuse my French), 3 songs out of these 5 are Christian songs we sung at church during worship. How amazing is that ? I got baptised in London but that's the subject for another post. And my church in London really helped me grow a lot. I learned so much about myself thanks to London and thanks to my church. It really warms my heart to know that I was right all the way.

Et ça c'est la cerise sur le gâteau. Je suis trop contente de voir ça. Et je ne parle pas de Calvin Harris. Et ce n'est pas une nouvelle que "Lean On" ait été mon morceau de l'année. Mais ça me sidère de voir que trois des cinq morceaux soit des louanges chrétiennes qu'on chantait à l'église. C'est formidable ! Je me suis faite baptiser à Londres, mais j'en parlerai à un autre moment. Et mon église à Londres m'a vraiment aidé à grandir. J'ai appris énormément sur moi même grâce à Londres et grâce à mon église. Ca me fait chaud au coeur de voir que j'avais tout bon.

This Spotify Year In Music really hits home. I am really against data collection and monitoring everything on the Internet but when it is about music, go for it ! Spotify is also a good thing because it is free and still, it gives money - thanks to the anoying ads on it - to the artists and it is good to know that I do the part of my job in that system. Illegal downloading shouldn't exist anymore now that we all have illimited data and Spotify (it works for iTunes and Deezer and everything...). I am looking forward to know what 2016 has in stock for me in terms of music and what will be Spotify's results at the end of the year. Keep posted !

Avec ça j'ai hâte de savoir ce que me réserve 2016 musicalement et quels seront mes résultats Spotify à la fin de l'année !
