PLAYLIST | WINTER 2018

Winter has definitely been a rock'n'roll season for me with a dash of French rap. Here you go:

Whitesnake - Here I Go Again '87

I don't even know how I stumbled across this gem. You've got to love guys with perms !

Neil Young - Rockin' In The Free World

It does not sound at all like the Neil Young songs I listen to, but the message is important and the music is good.

Shinedown - Cut The Cord

The kind of track that blesses your ears ! Never heard of the band but pretty sure that with such talent they're big !

Space Of Variations - TIBET

I think these two songs are similar because of haunting children's choir in the background. They're both bangers.

Asking Alexandria - Moving On

Almost couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that this song I was randomly listening to and that sounded so vintage was actually Asking Alexandria. It sounds so different from "A Candlelit Dinner with Inamorta".

Sleeping with Sirens - One Man Army

So I told you last season that I now listen to Sleeping With Sirens which means I totally missed the hype over this good looking frontman band. This is easy to listen and a good track.

FEVER 333 - BURN IT

Already told you about my obsession with FEVER 333. I am now trying to find out how I am going to see them live this summer. They're only doing Download Festival but the lineup is not compelling so...

Marmozets - Weird and Wonderful

Marmozets ! Again ! Here's one that I asked Alexa to play on repeat in December ! Kept me warm while dancing in my freezing bedroom.

YONAKA - Death By Love

YONAKA ! Again ! I cant' get enough of this band, can't wait for All Point East with Bring Me The Horizon!

Bring Me The Horizon - sugar honey ice & tea

Speaking of Bring Me The Horizon... The band finally released their new album "amo" and it was disappointing. The real bangers were already out ("MANTRA" and "wonderful life"). "Mother Tongue" and "nihilistic blues" are ok but the rest is meh. Except "sugar honey ice & tea" which makes me headbang HARD.

Waterparks - Stupid For You

Ok, so I thought Waterparks was a different band I've been told about. So I gave it a listen since they're playing Slam Dunk this year. Turns out: it's not the band I was thinking of AND it is pretty good. Some songs like "We Need To Talk" and "Not Warriors" have this California cool vibe (I can definitely imagine them making it to the Hollister playlist); "11:11" might be a bit too edgy for the Hollister playlist but we still have that California cool vibe; "Blonde" is very similar to "Stupid For You" which is the one I played on repeat in late February/early March; but more recently I have "Dizzy" on repeat because the lyrics are on point and the anger is giving me life.  I like that Waterparks sounds all cute but actually adresses depression quite a lot. Reminds me of Paramore.

Emarosa - Cautious

Another band that has this California cool vibe: Emarosa. I was bitchy about their music when they opened for Don Broco in Paris but their music is actually quite catchy. I'd recommend you guys listen to "Hell Of It" which is way less poppy and angrier than "Cautious".

The Amazons - Mother

Probably with Waterparks' "Stupid For You" the song I listened to the most last season - and it only came out like two weeks ago. It is SO GOOD. It has that Deadweather violence with a Nothing But Thieves vibe; ngl The Amazons take my money ! No wonders they are Jaël protégés and she introduced me to them in Autumn. Can't wait to see them at Community Festival this Summer ! Please listen to "Little Something Too" !

The Amity Affliction - Drag The Lake

I find the verses quite cringy but the chorus hits me in the feels !

Wildways - Till I Die

Listened to this song WAY MORE than I should've. Then I discovered they were Russian which is exotic *wink wink* and then I found out it was a Machine Gun Kelly cover and I was like "uh ok". But it's still pretty ok.

The Gap Band - You Dropped A Bomb On Me

Found myself spontaneously dancing and Shazaming this song in Ikea in Brooklyn. Turns out it was in GTA. The video is very much on point with the Black Cowboy thing going on at the moment.

Starship - We Built This City

This one was also in GTA. But only decently gave it a go after Don Broco's show in Paris when everyone started an impromptu Macarena on it.

Marilyn Manson - Cry Little Sister

Asked Alexa to play Marilyn Manson on shuffle. Found this gem that reminded me of the whole Download Festival vibe.

Mikebøi - Missed

Heard it at my friend's, immediately spotted the T.a.T.u. sample and she didn't believe me. We had to listen to the OG song for her to recognize that I have master's ears when it comes to music.

Darius & FKJ - Ô

When I went to Istanbul, it was so peaceful by the water that only Roche Musique's sound could fit the vibe so I unearthed this gem from Darius and FKJ...

Zimmer - Moonrise

... as well as this gem from Zimmer. Roche Musique really is the best with summer vibes. "Lost Your Mind" is pretty precious as well.

Silmarils - Va y Avoir du Sport

Summer is coming and for some reason my brain was like "let's find this song from your childhood" so here you go !

Matt Houston - R'n'B 2 Rue

You can blame my sister who decided to play this track loud one morning in New York to help us wake up and get ready: it worked ! It was such a banger when we were ten ! I couldn't understand a word and now that I do, I feel like my ears tried to protect me.

Disiz La Peste - Kaïju

And then in late February/early March I fell in the trap of French rap. Disiz has always been one of my fav. He is SO talented.

$-Crew - On va le faire

I guess the last days of Winter making room for Spring is the perfect moment of the year to listen to this cold but summery tracks (does that make sense?). It smells like cold nights in Paris waiting for the nightbus home after enjoying the last rays of sunshine in the warmth of the city.

Nekfeu - Squa

It took me a couple of years before giving a proper listen to Nekfeu's "Cyborg" and it is full of gems like "Saturne" and "Réalité Augmentée". To be honest, "Feu" was so good I was scared "Cyborg" wouldn't compete with it. But it's pretty good !

Youssoupha - Devenir vieux

This song immediately made me feel something intense: sadness, loneliness. From Youssoupha's flow to the instrumental, I could feel the song in my veins. I absolutely love it. Please listen to "M'en Aller" which is very much different, with lots of African vibes. Reminds me of childhood.

Gaël Faye - Irruption

To be honest, this is one of the best rap song I heard in years. The lyrics are insanely good. Me again being three years late to the party...

Aya Nakamura - Pookie

Me being late to the party means I only discovered the psychotic effects of being addicted to this song. Aya Nakamura rocks.

Rilès - Thank God

A friend tried to introduce me to Rilès a couple of years ago but I didn't want to hear about this pretentious (I thought he was pretentious probably because I was jealous of his talent) but this song really hit home. Sometimes you're just not ready.

The Toxic Avenger - Adrenaline (Feat. Sophie Tith)

France got talent ! I like how gloomy and terrifying this track sounds like. Is it Halloween already ?

Avril Lavigne - Everybody Hurts

Had a little bit of a hard time mid Feb/early March, all these overnight shifts were getting to my head and I had a nervous breakdown at some point. Thank goodness I had this Avril Lavigne song to keep me going. I also gave a listen to her new album and found some good tracks like "Birdy". The fact that she wrote "Everybody Hurts" with her ex-husband Deryck Whibley absolutely warms but also breaks my heart at the same time. They should've been endgame.

Holy Wars - Born Dark

Recommended by AFI's Adam Carson himself in Deezer's ROCKET by AFI playlist. If I vlog one of the festival I attend this summer, this is defo going to be the soundtrack.

Princess Nokia - Mine

So... do y'all think Ariana Grande's ripped off Princess Nokia's "Mine" on "7 Rings"? I do, the flow is too similar as well as the lyrics. Stop it Ariana: you're NOT black.

Zedd, Katy Perry - 365

I have literally been obsessed with this song as soon as it came out. The music is addictive and it's nice to hear Katy Perry's voice on normal tracks, not the childish pop she's been selling to us recently. More of this please.

Diplo - Boom Bye Bye (Feat. Niska)

I remember skipping this song after hearing a misogynistic line in the lyrics. But then I was like "wait a minute, the music is addictive !" duh it's Diplo. So this song has been one of my fav this season, perfect to shake your booty on your way to warmer temperatures !

FIDLAR - Can't You See

I like the cheeky Damon Albarn summery vibe in this song ! Also the lyrics should definitely go with the video I plan to record on why I don't fall for the fast fashion trap anymore. Oh you've got to love a song making fun of fashion victims and influencers !

While She Sleeps - GOOD GRIEF

While She Sleeps is really good at these guitar solos ! Reminds me of Monte Money in Escape The Fate back in the days...

The Pale White - Medicine

The perfect cool but a bit angry song to change seasons to.

Send me your fav tracks !

PLAYLIST | FALL 2018

For once I am on time with the seasonal playlist.

Marilyn Manson - The Fight Song

Thqnk you Deezer for the suggestion. I like myself vintage Marilyn Manson that sounds like The Hives on steroids.

Korn - Got The Life

Blink 182 - Don't Leave Me

After reading another hilarious Mark Hoppus tweet, I listened to some Blink 182 song only to block on this one because it reminded me so much of a Superbus song. I can't help but think the French band plagiarized Blink' song.

Jimmy Eat World - The Middle

Next.
Deezer decided to play this song for me, song I missed during my emo days. My housemate's friend came over the house and we got down the path of old emo days songs and this one came up. Gosh, the video is horrendous, no people of colour. Next.

Five Finger Death Punch - The Pride

Here's another classic I completely missed back in the days. I'm pretty sure this song was used for Naruto or Pokemon videos on YouTube back then.

Ramones - Blitzkrieg Bop

Shame shame shame.
Speaking of classics... How bad is it that I only find out age 26 that the famous "eh oh let's go" is from The Ramones? To be honest I found out late in life that The Ramones was not Avril Lavigne favourite brand along with Dickies...

The Clash - I Fought the Law

More classics and bands that are not just t-shirts. It reminds me of warm summer days hanging out in Paris...

Aerosmith - Dude (Looks Like A Lady)

However, seriously, if you never listened to Aerosmith and sport them on a t-shirt imma smack you. This makes me feel like dancing on the top of a bar in the Texan desert. Hand me a pair of santiags !

Audioslave - Show Me How to Live

J'étais persuadée qu'il disait "Show me how to love" c'était plus sexy avec cette voix de folie.
Kinda disappointed he doesn't say "show me how to love" with that deep sexy voice.

Orson - No Tomorrow

And just like that, Deezer brings back memories of teenager me doing homework in my bedroom listening to the only decent rock radio.

Black Honey - Midnight

Gotta thank Jael for this vintage sounding discovery.

Tonight Alive - Disappear (Feat. Lynn Gunn)

More female lead rock bands.

Halestorm - I Miss The Misery

Cringy female lead rock bands.

Marmozets - Habits

Badass female lead rock bands. I already told you about Marmozets. Now, Alexa is learning.

Avril Lavigne - Head Above Water

Here's to the "motherfuckin' princess" of rock music, Avril Lavigne, even though she's quieter now. I really loved her new song, it is so uplifting. She still has her mad song writing skills.

Cory Asbury - Reckless Love

I also played a lot this song from church that has similar lyrics. It is now in my Deezer most played songs of the year.

Andy Black - Drown Me Out

Ca sonne carrément comme du All Time Low.
Seems like I really needed to be cheered up last season because we have a serious case of emo lyrics here. The whole thing sounds like All Time Low.

We Came As Romans - Regenerate

Can I get a medal now that I listen to We Came As Romans? I think I'm emo-peaking at the moment. Alexa is not really keeping up with it, she goes mute when I'm like "Alexa, play We Came As Romans".

Sleeping With Sirens - Kick Me

Attendez j'ai mieux, j'écoute Sleeping With Sirens aussi maintenant. Je suis la reine des emos.
Hold up, I got better. I am now listening to Sleeping With Sirens. I'm an emo-queen.

Bring Me The Horizon - wonderful life ft. Dani Filth

But am I really emo if I don't binge listen to Bring Me The Horizon latest hit with His Highness Dani Filth? What a surprise when Deezer told me "MANTRA" was the song I played most in 2018 and it actually came out 4 months ago. And then Bring Me The Horizon retweeted this. What a wonderful life !

Grimes - We Appreciate Power

Another song I had on repeat was "We Appreciate Power" from the music industry's most effed up artist Grimes. Love at first... play? I want to make a badass lookbook with this song.

CASPA - GET HIGHER

Let's go back to an almost forgotten music genre. Found this song while getting ready for Zeds Dead show in London.

Linkin Park feat. Jay-Z - 99 Problems/Points of Authority

Depuis la mort de Chester je n'ai été capable d'écouter que "Bleed it out" de Linkin Park, mais depuis quelques temps j'ai réussi à écouter autre chose: ce morceau.
After Chester's passing I've only been able to listen to Linkin Park's "Bleed It Out". But for some reason, I can now listen to this track as well.

THE FEVER 333 - Walking in My Shoes

I guess The Fever 333 has something to do with me being able to listen to Linkin Park again. I played this song on repeat for a good all week. The mix of rap and metal à la Linkin Park reminds me of Hollywood Undead who set the Download festival on fire. When I see the hype growing around The Fever 333 and them headlining lots of summer festivals, my heart fills with joy !

Bif Naked - Lucky

Laissez-moi.
I found myself almost crying at this song when Oz left Willow in Buffy. I have to stop binge watching this.

Billie Eilish - Ocean Eyes

If they were to update Buffy with nowadays music, they would definitely use this Billie Eilish song for the same scene.

Jacob Banks - Slow Up

Just in case you needed a warm voice for the cold days, here it is.

Aya Nakamura - Oula

People kept trashing Aya Nakamura on social media so I decided to give her music a go and it is really good. People are mean. Haters added a new fan to Aya Nakamura's fanbase.

Eh eh eh... à l'année prochaine !
...and see you next year !

PLAYLIST | SUMMER 2018

Nouvelle saison, nouvelle playlist ! Voici la bande originale de mon été...

M - Mojo

Thirty Seconds To Mars - Rescue Me

Clint Mansell - Lux Aeterna

Nothing But Thieves - Trip Switch

Korn - Falling Away from Me

Gotye - Thanks For Your Time

Iggy Pop - The Passenger

Bastille - Good Grief

OKZharp and Manthe Ribane - Kubona

Marilyn Manson - Killing Strangers

Only Dreams to be King".

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Push The Sky Away

Lower Than Atlantis - Had Enough

Flyleaf - All Around Me

Santigold - Run The Road

Lauv - I Like Me Better

Deezer me suggère des titres qui me rappellent étrangement les playlists Hollister et qui donc me font penser soleil et Californie..!

Kids See Ghost - Reborn

Kid Cudi - By Design feat.

Passion, Pain and Demon Slayin' est vraiment dingue. J'avais beaucoup aimé "ILLusions" à la première écoute mais là j'ai été conquise par "By Design" qui m'a fait bouger mes fesses, j'ai quasiment chialé sur "Wounds" sans parler de "Releaser" qui te donne l'impression que The Man On The Moon te prend par la main et t'emmène avec lui. A écouter d'urgence !

BANKS - Lovesick

Bebe Rexha - I'm A Mess

Ariana Grande - no tears left to cry

Billie Eilish - you should see me in a crown

Bring Me The Horizon - MANTRA

Sick Puppies - You're Going Down

The Color Morale - Walls

Flying High - Captain Hollywood Project

Cultissime.

PLAYLIST | SPRING 2018

Don't get mad at me, I know I've spammed Instagram with a shit ton of metal videos when I attended Download Festival Paris. It's only normal that in order to build up for the festival, I mostly spent my time listening to rock/metal jams last season. You'll get through it.

Avenged Sevenfold - Gunslinger

I am not A7X biggest fan, only listened to them for the first time I'd say a year ago but I'm deeply in love with the singer's voice. It sounds like vintage rock bands, I love it. I love the drama in this song.

Good Charlotte - The River ft. M. Shadows, Synyster Gates

Speaking of Avenged Sevenfold's singer - M. Shadows - I love the touch he adds to this already AWESOME Good Charlotte song. I remember when "Good Morning Revival" came out. I went to see Good Charlotte with a classmate at an unplugged gig in a store in Paris. I remember how everyone kept bitching about this album being so different from "old Good Charlotte" (I feel like every band goes through this). Maybe it's because I'm older now, I actually enjoy it.

AFI - Beautiful Thieves

Speaking of albums being trashed by fans: I was one of those who bitched about "Crash Love" when it came out. I mean how could AFI go from "Sing The Sorrow" (this album is carved on my heart) and "DECEMBERUNDERGROUND" to "Crash Love" ? HOW ? But again, I'm older now, and with everything that happened last summer, it feels like I'm getting full circle falling in love with this album now.
Let's talk about that video ! It actually made me laugh SO HARD when I watched it. The straight edge storyline is making me gasp for air ! So clever ! And that Davey Havok smirk... Gosh, I would instantly DIED if Davey did that face in front of me !

Motionless In White - Necessary Evil feat. Jonathan Davis

Found this song on my Spotify specially curated thanks to bots playlist. I loved the industrial notes in the intro and the Marilyn Manson-esque voice. Oh and Jonathan Davis is on it ! I'm sold ! Do not watch the video for the song, it's very not straight edge.

Marilyn Manson - (s)AINT

Speaking of Marilyn Manson whom I had the privilege to see perform at Download Festival Paris... Again do not watch the official video for this song, it's almost unbearable to watch, it is basically porn. But the song is fire.

Picturesque - Monstrous Things

Let's move on from metal to super emo. This Picturesque song is 2000-and-late: it sounds like every emo band in the 00s. Still pretty good tho' ! And the singer looks like Jemima Kirk.

Silverstein - Broken Stars

My 15 yo emo self only listened to Silverstein after my highschool crush asked me to go see them live together. But I declined because I was broke and did not know the band. Thinking about it now, maybe it was a weird way for him to ask me out... Anyway, Spotify thought it was clever to suggest this song and I only loved it after the breakdown. Pretty epic. Hey boy, ask me out again now I have money and I know Silverstein !

Billy Talent - Viking Death March

But Billy Talent we both knew well, unfortunately we never had the opportunity to awkwardly ask each other out to see them live as I only saw them live for the first time at Download Festival Paris. Well "see", not really. I heard their last three songs of their set - including this one and "Red Flag" and "Fallen Leaves" - while queuing to get access to the site. Ô the disappointment... One more excuse to go see them "again".

Trapt - Headstrong

How come I did not knew this song when I was 14 ? It sounds like pretty much everything I was listening to at this time.

Beartooth - The Lines

I was looking forward to be introduced to Beartooth after I took a stupid test online and Beartooth came up as the band that matched my personality the most. So here we are !

Don Broco - Greatness

Broco did it again with another one of those great videos they have all the secrets of ! Nice dance moves to a great song. Also, Rob liked one of my comments on IG but no big deal. (I secretly started planning our wedding years ago, so this is basically him saying "I do" to me).

YONAKA - F.W.T.B.

Amy Valentine always has the best songs in her YouTube videos. This is one of them. I love how she always uses angsty women tracks !

Marmozets - Born Young and Free

Looking up on Deezer for "Play" by Marmozets that Amy Valentine used in one of her videos as well, I found "Born Young and Free" which sounds like a more brutal version of Paramore's "Born For This".

Portishead - Mysterons

But women-lead bands are not always angsty. I re-discovered this song from "Dummy" and oh this 90s gloomy vibe is precious. I can totally picture this scene that was in all movies and tv shows back then of a girl dressed with flared pants, cropped top and platform shoes dancing in slow motion with grungy effects to that song.

Harry Belafonte - Banana Boat Song (Day O)

On the plane to Miami, I watched Beetlejuice for the first time (go ahead and judge me and my goth side) and finally was able to put a name on those super famous songs - with "Jump In The Line" - but never know who is the singer. Still amazed that this is the original track sampled on Lil Wayne's "Six Foot, Seven Foot". Oh gosh, "Jump In The Line" got stuck in my head for days !

Journey - Don't Stop Believin'

So we went to the Irish pub of Naples, FL on St Paddy's day and they kept playing tunes that I only knew because of Glee. Enough to convince me to go on a throwback strike on Spotify.

Tinashe - Joyride

Remember when I said Tinashe should put up to work and stop releasing dumb pop songs and go back to her edgier roots ? Looks like she did it. This song is sending me so far...

Kendrick Lamar feat. SZA - All The Stars

My housemate in London kept playing this song when I was obsessed with the next one. I feel like the house was jamming to this and Kid Cudi's track for a whole month in late March/early April.

Kid Cudi - The Rage

To be completely honest, THIS is actually the song I played most last season. I remember being completely depressed because I was leaving London and exhausted by night shifts at work, and then this song came out when spring was blooming in London and gave me butterflies. I was exploring the streets with this on repeat in my earphones, I was angry but at peace at the same time. That's the soothing effect of Cudder's voice. I missed him, dearly.

Stromae - Défiler

Another artist I dearly missed was Stromae. Thank goodness he is back with his bittersweet music. Soothing.

Orelsan - La Pluie feat. Stromae

Thanks to Deezer, I was ready to enjoy Orelsan's show at We Love Green. I know I'm late at the "La Fête est Finie" listening party but I feel like I discovered "La Pluie" exactly when I needed. When I was bitter for leaving London and Paris weather was all moody. Stromae's creative genius hit me right in the feels again with this song. In regards to Orelsan, I would also recommend checking out "Christophe" but that's very French so maybe foreign folks won't get it.
Regarding the video: I have to admit that I have always been weirdly attracted to Stromae, there is something in his features and his figure that is almost otherwordly. And in this video, it's not Stromae, it is Paul Van Haver, he stripped from all the Stromae apparel and mask and it's just him and just tie me to a chair. Look at his hair, look at his eyes, look at his everything. He is so handsome and attractive. I want to hang out in a flooded supermarket with him as well.

Naive New Beaters - Jersey

Heard that song again for the first time in a long time and I was like "goooosh, I miss the NNBS". Last time I saw them live was like two or three years ago. I saw them I think 4 or 5 times in a year. I love the Naive New Beaters SO MUCH. I think it is the band I've seen live most. So I tweeted about me missing them and they messaged me back. Ô the love !

La Roux - Uptight Downtown

WHERE IS LA ROUX ? We all miss her too !
I love how her songs are perfect for summertime cocktails by the pool (as if). You know what I mean !

A-Trak & Dillon Francis - Money Makin

Thank you Spotify for introducing me to this track and getting me super hyped for summer.

Bloody Beetroots feat. The cool Kids - Awesome

Listening to Bloody Beetroots forgotten jams ten years after I first heard about them. I still have the drumstick I caught first row at Sziget Festival. (PS: do not watch the official music video, it's graphic and violent, in the same kind as Justice's "Stress").

MUSIC | PLAYLIST WINTER 2016

Winter is over so here's a selection of the tracks I played most this season.

Sno - December

Because my winter was all about One Direction and discussing ZAYN music, I actually thought this was ZAYN. But it is not. It is waaaay better.

Ed Sheeran - Shape Of You

I am a basic bitch. But I probably heard that song before mainstream people (hipster Armelle stop talking) because I literally clicked on the link as soon as Ed Sheeran published it. I have a vivid memory of having my hips moving after the first two notes and being like "wtf is happening to me ?". And then I was like "it sounds so much like Sia". Then I played this song on repeat for like 2 hours, and my hips hurt. A LOT. Also, "Divide" rocks like I want someone to write lyrics like that for me. Please.

Parker Ighile - This Is America (feat. G-Eazy)

I loved this song first because of that INSANE anxiety provoking instrumental. Also, there's my lover G-Eazy on it. And the lyrics couldn't make more sense now.

The Weeknd - False Alarm

I'm not the biggest fan of The Weeknd since fame won over his amazing music (so hipster of me to say that). BUT... This song has some sorts of Michael Jackson vibe (which makes sense because Abel & I are MJ's biggest fans). I only watched the video recently and was both shocked and amazed. Like this reminds me of GTA Los Santos opening mission and also the movie American Heist starring Hayden Christensen and Adrien Brody.

The Room - Room Of Angel (Silent Hill 4 OST)

I found an old blog of mine this winter and this song was featured on it. I remember as a teen having a thing for hunting songs. But I just discovered the lyrics and I had no idea they were so dark and scary !

Pictureplane - Gothstar

So I'm into "goth step" "witch house" or "witch disco" whatever it is called. It is basically slowed-down Crystal Castle-like music with a gloomier and dreamier vibe. Here are a few recommandations: Holy Other - Know Where, oOoOO - Hearts and Zomby - Soliloquy. Thank you Urban Outfitters for these discoveries. Also, I recommend listening to Classixx - Hanging Gardens which uses the exact same sample which is apparently a rip off of Fleetwood Mac - Seven Wonders.

Marilyn Manson - Third Day of A Seven Day Binge (Acoustic)

This sounds actually like an old Nirvana unplugged song. I like where Marilyn Manson is taking us on here. I wish people made more music like that nowadays.

Hole - Celebrity Skin

Speaking of Nirvana... I listened to that song a lot this winter and only discovered while writing that post that this is Courtney Love's band. Rock on gurl !

Seether - Gasoline

So yes I listened to a lot of 90s, 00s teen angst anthems in winter. And Seether was of course part of it.

Nada Surf - Popular

You can see that in both Seether and Nada Surf videos, the aesthetics of "popular" bitches are similar. That's a useful analysis. Don't thank me.

The Breeders - Cannonball

I can actually remember that this track was on most of the 90s films soundtrack. Shoutout to my 90s kids out there !

Chumbawamba - Tubhumping

This is also one of the 90s most iconic songs, wether or not you were in rock music or not. Like, if you know "Teenage Dirtbag", you've heard that one as well !

Falling In Reverse - Coming Home

So, let's talk about Ronnie Radke. I talked about him a lot on that blog because I'm a not-so-retired emo kid and I'm a fan of the guy. But I admit, I kind of jumped off the train when he started the crazy tweets and ego trips on Instagram. He sometimes insults fan in the comment section which is oh so immature and really irritating. Also, his music with Falling In Reverse is cool but not the greatest. And then, they dropped this, which is just like the comment section in YouTube sums it up Falling In Reverse meets 30 Seconds To Mars meets Angels and Airwaves meets some sort of Muse. So yes, it's pretty amazing.

Bloc Party - Banquet

Bloody hell ! I know this song as an iconic early 00s song as well but had no idea it was Bloc Party until this winter ! Come on, I had to wait for Urban Outfitters to teach me !

Etienne Daho - Comme un boomerang (feat. Dany)

So Valentine's Day is in winter so I looked up for this iconic French song originally performed by Serge Gainsbourg to cry my heart out for being single on that day for the 24th time.

Marc Lavoine - Dis Moi Que l'Amour (feat. Bambou)

Another French song to suck it up on Valentine's Day. The video clip is sick though.

Blue Oyster Cult - (Don't Fear) The Reaper

I found that track in Urban Outfitters' Halloween playlist on Spotify. It sounds so new but it was released like 40 years ago. WTF, right ?

Jeffree Star - So Fierce

For those of you who did not know before being a succesful Youtuber and business man, Jeffree Star was a emo scene boy who made the MySpace days ! And at some point, about 10 years ago, he started releasing music and that one was my favorite. Because Internet never forgets, I managed to find it on a former blog

1997 - Water's Edge

The pop song that put a smile on my face when I was a hypersensitive emo teenager. Ô the memories !

Gwyneth Paltrow - Party All The Time (Glee)

So old Glee episodes were airing on TV a random weekday morning and I fell in love again with that Eddie Murphy song (is that correct ?) sung by Gwyneth Paltrow. She was one of my favorite guest star in the show, back in the days.

Blood Orange - Chamakay

Sky Ferreira - You're Not The One

I never listen to things people who used to excell in other careers do when they turn to music (sorry ScarJo) but I found this track on an Urban Outfitters playlist on Spotify and damn, doesn't it feel like Spring is on its way ? Like for reals ! And I am living for Sky Ferreira's looks in this clip !

Miguel - Waves (RAC remix)

This is perfect for a warm late winter, when you can feel the afterwork-drinks-on-a-terrace smell in the air.

Jamie XX - Far Nearer

May Jamie XX share his recipe for happy vibes please ? It feels like I'm in London in early-Spring listening to that track !

Tove Lo - Cool Girl

This track also has early-Spring in London vibes ! Will someone finally take me back ?

Mark Ronson - Glass Mountain Trust (feat. D'Angelo)

Like come on, Mark Ronson share your secret too ! This track got me so ready for Spring !

Enjoy Spring !

MUSIC | HALLOWEEN INSPIRED PLAYLIST

Hey guys ! Halloween is just a week away and it's not too late to get in the mood. So here's a playlist with some spooky songs to feel better the vibe of gloomy days...

1. No One Believes Me - Kid Cudi

This song comes from the Original SoundTrack from the movie "Fright Night" which I strongly recommend (not just for drewling over Colin Farell sharp body hum). Cudi's moanings are the best. And just look at his face, what an actor !

2. If I Was Your Vampire - Marilyn Manson

The Nightmare Before Christmas revisited theme would have been so cliché ! There is something so anxiety provoking in this song. You just wait for something AWFUL to happen. Manson is the best.

3. Morning After Dark - Timbaland (featuring SoShy and Nelly Furtado)

Yes, dance/pop songs are allowed in Halloween playlists. I just think that Timbaland is a great beatmaker and he totally did his spooky job with this video.

4. Wake The Dead - The Used

Emo days song ha ! Well they totally channeled their inner MJ Thriller spirit !

5. Ghost - Michael Jackson

... Thriller is so overrated !

... Thriller est tellement surfait !

6. Buffy The Vampire Slayer Theme - Kittie

Get your stakes ready !

Préparez vos pieux !

7. Nymphetamine Fix - Caddle Of Filth

For the hardcore ones out there !

Pour les gens hardcore !

8. Contrego - MyPollux

Spooky piano notes and weird incantations.

9. Dr Hannibal - Don Choa

It's a French rap classic. If you understand French, the lyrics are so hillarious and gloomy also. If you don't, just imagine what kind of horrible stuff you can rap about on this kind of beat.

10. Death At The Chapel - The Horrors

Organ piano and shreded guitars. PREACH.

Un orgue et des guitares saturées. Parfait.

11. Me and The Devil - Gil Scott Heron

It's just art.

De l'art.

12. Harry Potter Theme Song (Hedwig's Theme)

Because what's Halloween without some Harry Potter's magic in it ?!

13. Somebody's Watching Me - Rockwell (featuring Michael Jackson)

Michael Jackson was really the best. Even though he's just in the back up chorus, you can sense his touch in this song. And what a spooky touch !

14. Kill Me - Make The Girls Dance (The Toxic Avengers Remix)

There is something wrong with these voices...

15. Sweet Dreams - Beyoncé

Well, she tried.

Elle aura essayé.

16. Kidnap The Sandy Claws - KoRn

Well I said Marilyn Manson's The Nightmare Before Christmas' song was cliché, not KoRn's ha !

17. Ghost'n'Stuff - Deadmau5

Halloween is about partying also right ? Well we needed a good beat !

18. Scream Movie Original Soundtrack - Marco Beltrami

"What's Your Favorite Scary Movie?" Ghostface would ask. Well, Scream series are my favourite scary movies !

19. Monster - Kanye West (featuring Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Bon Iver)

They are all possessed anyways...

Ils sont tous possédés de toute façon...

20. I Hope You Suffer - AFI

I have nothing else to say than AFI is my favorite band ever and they had make it through this playlist in some kind of way.

Hit me with some of your favourite Halloween jams in the comments !

xx
